Aromatherapy Stress Reduction
Aromatherapy oils can reduce the stress related discomforts in your body. Essential oil ingredients used for relieving stress are Lavender oil, Peppermint oil, Cypress oil, Black pepper oil and Rosemary oil.


Procedure for Usage: Add the essential oil ingredients to the bottle of massage oil. Shake well to mix the ingredients. Massage the essential oil to the affected parts of your body. These essential oils provide stress relief as they are absorbed onto the skin pores.

Citrus oils like Mandarin, Bergamot and Lemon are also used to uplift your spirits. You could also make use of Geranium and Clary Sage to balance your hormones.

Aromatherapy during Pregnancy

Some pregnant women use aromatherapy during pregnancy, as it helps during the period of mental, physical and emotional change. However, they are recommended to avoid essential oils that are unsafe. Essential oils to be avoided during pregnancy are: Cedar wood, Basil, Cypress, Fennel, Juniper, Jasmine, Myrrh, Rosemary, Thyme, Sage, Peppermint, Sweet Marjoram, Thyme and Clary Sage.

The following aromatic oils can be used to ease the discomforts of pregnancy:
  • Exhaustion: A blend of Lavender, Geranium and Bergamot oils can be used to prevent exhaustion
  • Stretch Marks: Abdomen and thighs can be massaged with 2 drops of Mandarin essential oil and 2 drops of Frankincense oil to prevent stretch marks
  • Nausea: Sprinkle the petitgrain and mandarin oils on a tissue near your bedside in order to avoid nausea or morning sickness
  • Back Pain: Lavender, Chamomile, Sandalwood or Frankincense oil can be mixed with almond oil to alleviate back pain
Aromatherapy health research notes that aroma therapy could cure various ailments. Your day to day discomforts and stress can also be treated with aromatherapy. Pregnant women are advised to exercise with caution while using certain aromatic oils. These products need to be used strictly with doctor's advice.
