With the rise in popularity of aromatherapy, many new aromatherapy products have come onto the market. Some of the most popular products are aromatherapy candles, massage oils and other aromatherapy gifts. These products use the principles of aromatherapy, where essential oils are used for their aroma and therapeutic effect. Some products that claim to be aromatherapy products may only be scented, without the essential oils that are necessary for a therapeutic effect.

Type of Aromatherapy Products Available

There are lots of aromatherapy products available in the market as follows
AROMATHERAPY OILS
Generally, aromatherapy oils are essential oils extracted from plants. They are used for the aroma they produce and the resulting therapeutic effect. Aromatherapy oils can be used in a variety of different ways, including in an oil burner, in a bath or in massage oil. There are also some oils available that are scented oils.Scented oils are not essential oils. They will still smell nice, but there will be no therapeutic effect.
AROMATHERAPY DIFFUSERS
Aromatherapy diffusers are items that are used to spread the scent into the air. The most popular form of aromatherapy diffuser is an oil burner. The oil is placed on top, and a candle is lit and placed underneath, heating the oil and spreading it throughout the room. There are also aromatherapy inhalers, nebulizers and light rings. One convenient way of taking (and benefiting from) your essential oils when you go out is by using aromatherapy beads. These beads contain a vessel where the essential oils can be placed.
AROMATHERAPY CANDLES
Aromatherapy candles are candles that are made using essential oils. You can find candles that have the scent of one essential oil, and candles that have a blend of scents for a nice smell producing effect. There are relaxing candles, sensual candles and stress-relieving candles, just to name a few. Many candles on the market are scented, and may even claim to have a therapeutic effect, but it is only those candles that use essential oils or plant extracts that will have the benefits of aromatherapy.
AROMATHERAPY COSMETICS AND BATH SALTS
Aromatherapy bath salt, hand cream and massage oil have been popular for quite some time. Now there is aromatherapy body cream, aromatherapy moisturizer and even aromatherapy lipstick. These products add essential oils to normal cosmetics, bath salts and skin care products.
POT POURRIS
Pot pourris are a mixture of dried plant parts. They may include leaves, bark, seeds and other parts of the plant. Some pot pourri includes only the plant, allowing the plant parts by themselves to produce the smell and create any effect. Other pot pourris add essential oil to the mixture. Generally, pot pourris that have essential oils added to the mixture will smell stronger and be more beneficial. You can also find manufactured pot pourri. These pot pourris use synthetic products that look like plants and add scented oil. There is no therapeutic effect to these types of products.
AROMATHERAPY PERFUMES AND AIR FRESHENERS
Aromatherapy perfumes and air fresheners use essential oils in a carrier (like jojoba oil or distilled water). Aromatherapy perfumes can be applied like any other normal perfume. However, the perfume is more of perfume oil than cologne or other perfume. Aromatherapy air fresheners often come in non-aerosol spray bottles. They can be used just like any ordinary air freshener.
AROMATHERAPY MOUTHWASH
Aromatherapy mouthwash is a mouthwash made out of essential oils in alcohol. It is usually more expensive that traditional mouthwash. It may also include baking soda. The oils used in aromatherapy mouthwash are mostly oils that are good for teeth and gums.
AROMATHERAPY PENS
Aromatherapy pens are an interesting way to benefit from essential oils. They are special roller ball pens that include a blend of essential oils. There are also a wide range of scented pencils and pens available. However, most of these will not contain essential oils.
AROMATHERAPY HERBS
Although aromatherapy usually relies on the use of essential oils, aromatherapy herbs can also be used for an aromatic and therapeutic effect. You can buy dried herbs from health food shops or aromatherapy companies or you can grow your own. These may be steeped in water, used in teas, added to baths or made into pot pourris. You can also used dried herbs to make some interesting aromatherapy gifts. They are even nicer if you add a few drops of essential oil. With the right equipment, you can also extract the oil from the plant.
