Aromatherapy Becoming More Popular With Doctors

Aromatherapy is being looked at by more doctors to be a method of treatment for diseases. Aromatherapy uses essential oils from flowers, leaves and fruit to massage into the body. To treat different problems there are over two hundred different oils that can be used and in various combinations.

As doctors are conducting studies and finding that aromatherapy truly does have therapeutic properties more are turning to it and standing by its results. Science has shown that humans have the ability to smell over ten thousand different scents and that the things we smell do have a direct impact on how we feel. Physiological responses can occur within the body when inhaling essential oils trigger changes in the brain. This happens by the brain stimulating the nervous, endocrine and immune system in various ways in reaction to the scents.

There are a variety ways in which doctors can administer aromatherapy. There is massage, bath, inhalation, steaming, mouthwash, vaporization and compress. The most effective aromatherapy treatment method is massage while baths also include the therapeutic effects you get from water. Massage has the added benefit of allowing the patient to relax while getting the physiological effects of the nervous system. As scientific studies prove the effectiveness of these methods many doctors are starting to stand by aromatherapy as an effective treatment method.
