Contrasting to that is Hemopet's first Wag-A-Thon that has a respected Vet, Dodd. The company earns $2 million a year and is trying to raise another $10 million to build a new center. Hemopet rescues greyhounds that would otherwise be euthanized at they end of their racing careers. The greyhounds that have a universal blood type spend a year or so as blood donors. These give blood twice a month.
The demand for doggie blood is a lot as now days more animals get complicated surgeries. This is where Hemopet earns. Once the year is over these greyhounds are then adopted out to families. Dodds said that more than 1,000 dogs have found homes this way but have served the need of other pets that need blood transfusions.
Restore Health Center with the aromatherapy and other alternative medicine is providing alternative therapies that could put Hemopet out of business. Essential oils can safely and effectively be used in a variety of situations. Many dog owners find that often, a combination of holistic remedies is necessary to achieve an optimum effect.
